Irina Munteanu is an artist, writer, editor and curator based in Bucharest, Romania. Her work plays with stillness and movement, objects that feel both intentional and misplaced, presence and disappearance.

Drawn to impermanence, she explores the unnoticed, traces left behind, moments on the verge of shifting into something else, fleeting encounters, temporary shelters and mid-thoughts. Her subjects often navigate dead ends, apparent impediments, contradictions, and the weight of no way out.

Ultimately, self-portraiture emerges as a way of documenting the self in transit — rooms inhabited, places that become part of an ever-growing archive of elsewhere.
